Since we didn’t really have a plan for today, we all slept in a bit. My mom definitely needed her sleep, as she has been feeling sick and had a fever last night. When we all did get up we walked down to the little market in our hotel since breakfast was over. Here we bought some watermelon, a croissant, popcorn, rice cakes, and nuts for out well rounded, super healthy breakfast. After getting some snacks in our bellies we went back to the room to get ready to walk into town.
When we got to town we started exploring, which only took about 20 minutes. There is a tiny market with a fridge of fruit, some shampoo type stuff, and a few other random beach supplies. There were a few other shops with clothes and beach goodies. One even had someone hand making sandals, which I thought was pretty cool. Other than these stores there is pretty much just a hair salon, some hotels, restaurants, and a bit of beach that was kind of crowed, but still beautiful. We walked a few steps up a nearby hill to get a better view of the town before going to lunch. We ended up going to a cute little place right on the water with a view of the beach. We basically ordered our usuals because every restaurant in the area seems to have the same items on its menu, which makes ordering a breeze.
After we topped off our stomachs we went to the market to get some fruit and bread for a picnic dinner we were contemplating. Back at out hotel Hannah and I walked into the wifi section of our hotel and I blogged a bit while she started her summer homework. When I finished blogging we headed back to our bungalow to get our towels, swim suits, and books before heading to the beach with my dad. Since my mom is sick she stayed behind and caught up on some sleep. At the beach we both read for quite a while before deciding to do a mini photoshoot. The splashing water cooled our toes while we were given weird looks by random people on the beach. Despite the awkward onlookers, we got some really cute pictures and headed over to our dad, who had found a new nine year old fisherman friend. We took some pictures of them and my dad took some of Hannah and I together before we packed up and headed back to the room. Here we read and read and read some more (as well as going through pictures). At about 6:30 my dad and I went for a run that I knew would be hilly, but I had no idea how hilly. It started with 1.15 miles of straight uphill, a bit of flat, then straight down a rocky slope where I rolled my ankle (nothing serious). The trail took us down to a point on the peninsula, to a tiny, secluded beach, and to a kayak tour launching spot. It was beautiful, but running/ hiking back up that steep hill was not all that fun. I came back feeling accomplished, but like I went uphill both ways.
While a took a shower Hannah ordered the whole family dinner at the hotel take out bar and brought us back some yummy pasta. We decided to make our night a bit less complicated by having our picnic on the porch of our hotel so we had our pasta with bread and fruit, which was delicious.
Just as the day was coming to a close Hannah called be back out to the porch to marvel at a yacht lighting the water surrounding it to a light turquoise rather than black. Being the witty person I am I told her “Those poor fish must be so confused. They are probably swimming in their schools in frantic circles screaming ‘UFO! UFO! Unidentified floating object!” While moving my hand in circles like the fish were swimming. We both started cracking up and we ended our relaxing day with smiles dividing our happy lips.
