Laundry Day and Marina Bay

This morning we tried to get a quick start and sort of did. We were checked out around 10:30 and we headed off to the laundromat, not wanting to pay $16 per t-shirt washed by the hotel. After our day on Pulau Ubin , there were definitely some stinky clothes in the mix. We found a self serve laundry place just a few subway stops away and headed out. Once we emerged from the subway we had a long walk hauling all of our luggage until finally getting to the laundry place. Expecting relief from the heat I walked inside and was disappointed to find it hotter than outside. After we had put our laundry in I started overheating and went to find some air-conditioning with my dad. About an hour or so later we went back to help my mom finish the drying and start folding.
Done, we went to a vegetarian restaurant another person at the laundromat suggested to my mom. Turns out it was delicious! They served mostly Thai Food and we ordered tempeh, beancurd rolls, sweet and sour tofu, and a yam ring, which I can’t really explain. With clean clothes and full stomaches we headed to our new hotel for the night, The Marina Bay Sands. This hotel is really famous in Singapore and has the world’s highest infinity pool. I was so excited to get here! Once we checked in, we rode the 29 floors to our room. Our room is city view and when we got there, it was amazing to see. You can see Marina Bay, downtown, China Town, and more I couldn’t name from our window. We FaceTimed Hannah in Spain next after she mistakenly took today for Father’s Day. I didn’t mind because it meant talking to her and my dad doesn’t seem to mind two Father’s Days back to back.
Next, our eyes were set on the pool. The view was basically from the top of the city and it was spectacular. It was really fun to swim around and get to sightsee at the same time. Watching all of the posed selfies was also some quality comedy. Between card games and poolside snacks I dipped in the pool again and my dad took a nice long nap. We were able to see the sunset above the city, which was beautiful. The hot tub was the perfect way to finish off the pool before going back to our room to watch the laser show the hotel puts on, which was the same as our first night in Singapore.
We changed and went to the Gardens by the Bay next. It was around 8:30 and dark. The gardens stay open until 2 am though so we weren’t rushed. When we got there we were just in tome for the 8:45 light show that is supposed to tell the story of the garden on its tree like towers. The show was really cool to watch, but I don’t think I learned anything about it’s history. We continued to walk around the enormous gardens and found most of the attractions to be closed, but the plants were still really cool. There was also some cool architecture we could see in the garden.
I was starting to get really hungry from the swimming and walking around, so we went into the enormous, hotel owned mall and found a delicious Indian food restaurant. We ordered a lot of naan, some Daal, and Chicken Tika Masala. They also brought a bit of included things like falafel, a digestion drink, and what I think is the Indian equivalent of chips and salsa. Having stuffed ourselves to the top, we headed back to the hotel to fall asleep while on our little perch above the city.
